365 Days of Fun with Children's Books

Updated: Feb 28

Do you ever wake up and wonder how in the world am I going to entertain these kids today? Or maybe, let's do something fun and different today, but what? One little trick I learned is to follow the National Day Calendar. It tells you all the wonderful and wacky things that are celebrated each day of the year that you can especially pair with fun and educational children's books. For example, April 12th is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, National Licorice Day, and National Colorado Day, to name just a few. That means it a great day and look up how far you are from Colorado. Then, talk about what fun things you can do there that aren't common in your home area. Maybe, have grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Do you need or want to get out for a bit? Run to the local store and grab a couple varieties of licorice and instead of just gobbling down on them, look up a new recipe for licorice. I've found cookies, ice cream and tea recipes that look pretty tasty. Anything that keeps you and the kids learning and having fun is what it's all about. You can look ahead and plan for certain days with foods, books and games or just wing-it and go with whatever that day is. If you need a book or activity to go along with the day, check out what PaperPie has to offer. There are books for all of your kiddos ages birth to young adult! You might even find some you will love for yourself.
