Things to do with Teens in South Haven, Michigan

Updated: Feb 28

Each summer we try to get away and visit somewhere new and expose the kids to new experiences. Plus, we are trying to visit all 50 states. This summer, we visited state number 32...Michigan - South Haven, to be specific. To be very honest, I did very little planning and had no expectations. In spite of that or maybe because of that, we had a really nice time. We traveled with family and friends for a total of 3 adults and 6 teens. If you'd like to recreate some of the things we did, these will not disappoint you.

On a rainy afternoon, we visited Allegen Event. There are outdoor activities I can't speak for, but inside the teens (and I) did the 3 story ropes and zip line course, climbing walls and finished up with the arcade. It was a great way to have fun, exercise and use all of that stored up energy from the rainy day. There is a snack bar with yummies and a large seating area for rest breaks or anyone that doesn't want to participate and just watch the others.

On a beautiful, sunny day we visited Lake Arvista. It is a lake waterpark with all of the inflatable obstacles you can imagine. The kids enjoyed a several story slide into the lake ( Hold onto your glasses. We learned that the hard way.), the inflatable objects and a cable park to ski and wake board. They also have pickleball, mini golf and other activities available. We ended up renting a boat and tubing. This seemed to be the favorite event of everyone. There is also a nice beach to relax upon to watch all of the activities.

We visited the Michigan Theatre for an evening movie and were pleasantly surprised to find the evening tickets to only be $5.50 for each person. It was easy to navigate, pleasant staff, many snack options and a fun evening option.

We took several of the kids on a fishing charter with Reel'N Hooks Charters. We actually had a very slow trip. You just can't make every night a busy fishing night. Everyone in our party actually did catch a fish though. We caught King Salmon and Trout. They cleaned the fish for us and we were able to bring our catch home with us for a later fish fry. The charter took us about 3 miles from the pier, where we could see the shore at all times. The sunset was gorgeous and the excitement when a fish bit created memories for a lifetime.

We had many delicious meals; Clementines, Phoenix Street, Cafe Julia, Six Chicks Scratch Kitchen, The Lodge and Sherman's many times for ice cream.

We also stayed at a VRBO on N. Shore Drive. It is a fabulous location with many rentals nearby. Ours is now for sale so I won't list it here. The beach is right across the street with a small park.

There are so many things to see and do. It is also easy to walk around or drive a golf cart around. If you've been thinking about going, don't hesitate any longer.
